Lucius Beebe was a Renaissance man of the early twentieth century who pursued talents as a railroad historian, photographer, journalist, and food critic. His 1938 publication of High Iron: A Book of Trains, a revolutionary railroad picture book, forever changed the genre. Together with his life partner and fellow photographer Charles Clegg, Beebe produced some of his most significant work which captured a variety of mid-century railroad subjects.
