The popular American Car & Foundry 50’-6” single-door boxcar returns to our Milwaukee, Racine & Troy product range. The easy-to-build HO scale kit (era: October 1974+) is painted Trains magazine red with white graphics.
The model, produced in the United States of America by Accurail Inc., features a one-piece injection-molded plastic body; 10-foot plug and Youngstown doors; a factory-installed brake wheel; and a modeler-installed air reservoir, brake cylinder, and control valve.
The separate plastic underbody has molded center sills, cross members, stringers, body bolsters, bolster blocks, floor boards, and draft-gear boxes. The draft-gear box covers are separate, screw-mounted parts. An unpainted steel weight, which attaches to the top of the underbody, is also included. The 5,080-cubic-foot capacity boxcar rides on roller-bearing trucks with 33” Delrin wheelsets. Additional features include two-piece Accumate plastic knuckle couplers with metal trip pins; four 2-56 x 3/16” pan head machine screws (two each for the trucks and draft-gear box covers); and written, illustrated instructions.
The Milwaukee, Racine & Troy ACF 50’-6” exterior-post boxcar is available in one road number.
