Exclusively from Trains magazine, this poster is your single source to examine Canadian National.
An entity of the Canadian government until 1995, it was formed by the government from a number of marginal railroads in the early 20th century. It is the railroad that experienced the most expansion in the past two and a half decades, absorbing the Illinois Central to connect Canada with the Gulf of Mexico. Also includes the former Chicago Central & Pacific; Duluth, Missabe & Iron Range; Elgin, Joliet & Eastern; and Wisconsin Central lines. Today it hosts Amtrak’s City of New Orleans and VIA Rail’s Canadian.
