Exclusively from Trains magazine, this poster is your single source to examine the Norfolk Southern railroad.
Norfolk Southern resulted from the 1982 merger of Norfolk & Western and Southern Railway. It added half of Conrail in 1999 (the other half going to CSX). In the early 2000s it sought to expand its market rebuilding its lines to build the Virginia to Ohio “Heartland Corridor” and the Virginia to New Orleans “Crescent Corridor.” It hosts Amtrak’s Crescent.
