Some of the most realistic, innovative, and beautiful miniature electric trains ever made were created by the Lionel Corp. during the momentous decade of the 1940s.
Both before and after World War II, designers at that great enterprise developed locomotives that featured a whistle and puffed smoke. They also brought out models of freight cars as well as operating accessories that at the touch of a button could unload small logs, bits of coal, and tiny barrels.
