Developed after German armor encountered the Soviet T-34, the Panther featured thick sloped armor and a potent 7.5cm main gun. Despite production problems brought about by Allied bombs and maintenance problems, some 6,000 of the hard-hitting tank were built, roughly four times the number of Tiger tanks manufactured.
Panther Tank — The Panzerkampfwagen V in World War II by David Doyle exposes the history of this important weapon. The 128-page hardcover features more than 200 photos showing the Panther's evolution from drawing board to the Battle of Kursk and service in Russia, Italy, Northwest Europe, and the final days in Germany. The images reveal details of stowage, weathering, and camouflage that will be helpful for anyone interesting in building a Panther. In addition, there are three-view line drawing of each major variant, Ausf D, A, and G, as well as color profiles. This makes it a perfect reference.
